Good to Be Alive by Jason Gray

I heard this song on K-Love radio station, and adored it.

(Who knows what this is??)

When they had as the song of the week, I had to download it.

These are the lyrics:

Hold on
Is this really the life I'm living?
Cause I don't feel like I deserve it
Every day that I wake, every breath that I take you’ve given
So right here, right now
While the sun is shining down

I wanna live like there's no tomorrow
Love like I'm on borrowed time
It's good to be alive, yeah

Hold on
If the life that we've been given
Is made beautiful in the living
And the joy that we get brings joy to the heart of the giver
Then right here, right now
This is the song I'm singing out

I wanna live like there's no tomorrow
Love like I'm on borrowed time
It's good to be alive
[x2]

I won’t take it for granted
I won’t waste another second
All I want is to give you
A life well lived, to say “thank you”

I wanna live like there's no tomorrow
Love like I'm on borrowed time
It's good to be, it's good to be alive

I wanna live like there's no tomorrow
Love like I'm on borrowed time
It's good to be alive

I won’t take it for granted
I won’t waste another second
All I want is to give you
A life well lived, to say “thank you”

SO TRUE!

Munchie Monday: Cinnamon bites

Your siblings or children will adore this super easy treat.

Ingredients

  • Butter
  • Bread (I used plain old sandwich bread)
  • Cinnamon and Sugar mix
Tools
  • Frying pan
  • Butter knife
  • Flipper (What is a thing that flips pancakes called? Spatula??)
  • Bowl
Turn the frying pan on Medium

Butter both sides of the bread (1 piece for little kids 2 for big kids or adults).

Cut it in squares or rectangles.

Fry on one side till golden brown, and flip.

You can make as much as wanted or needed!

Might be yummy paired with Hot Chocolate....have yet to try....

My Homage to Mr. Rogers of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.

"For Fred, perhaps the earliest prototype of a true .neighbor. took the form of an elderly woman who lived in his hometown of Latrobe, Pennsylvania. She was his grandmother.s age, and everyone called her Mama Bell. Many times five-year-old Freddy (as he was called) would amble up her back-porch steps looking for a snack. He would arrive strategically on her back doorstep because it led straight to her kitchen, where she often made him his favorite treat.toast sticks. .Come for toast sticks, Freddy?. she would ask. One day Mama Bell asked Freddy if he would like to make the toast sticks on his own. Imagine his delight at being able to master what seemed like a grown-up task, as well as his pride at being entrusted with Mama Bell.s specialty. He was prompted to put the bread in the toaster, allowed to slowly butter the toasted slice, and then top it off with a dollop of jam. Mama Bell even let him carefully cut the toast into four long sticks.
Very soon after that encounter, Mama Bell got sick and died. Many decades later, Fred wondered if somehow Mama Bell had known she was reaching toward heaven and wanted Freddy to have this experience as a comfort to him, as a reminder of their unique friendship. Even though she was gone, he could now make toast sticks on his own, and he would always think of Mama Bell as he made them. Toast sticks may seem like a simple legacy, but they had a profound effect upon a young boy."

Silly Saturday & Sunday!

I listened to Christmas music.

After listening to one CD, I HAD to listen to more!

I noticed after almost 6-8 months that the snow brushes are still on the porch.

Us New Yorkians keep an eye out for snow; even in the summer!

What silly things have you done??

Thoughtful Thursday: Stars

I am studying Astronomy, the first quarter of school. And every time I read, or watch something about stars and outer space, I am in awe.

Psalm 148:3-4

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.
 Praise him, you highest heavens
and you waters above the skies.

Awe of what OUR God, the ONLY God can make.

Psalm 33:6
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

Planets in our solar system, each created uniquely, from
Jupiter's size to
Saturn's rings to
Mars' red socks to
Mercury so close to the sun,
and the rest, including dwarf, are equally fascinating.

Psalm 136:7-9
Who made the great lights
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.

The sun, a ball of gas, God strategically placed in the sky so we could live here.
It is our light during the day. "The greater light to govern the day." (Genesis 1:16)

The moon, an amazing rock, that glows at night. To "govern the night." (Genesis 1:16)

Psalm 8:3
When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place.

Stars so bright, you can see them from where we are.  "He also made the stars." (Genesis 1:16)

Psalm 147:4-5
He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.

Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
    his understanding has no limit.

Galaxies, billions of miles away, but look through telescopes and see them like you can touch them.

Isaiah 40:26
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:
    Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,
not one of them is missing.

Say thank you to God for his "Starry host" that he created!

Double Wacky Wednesday: Ballet shoes

This is a true story.

I had to re attach the soles of my ballet slippers. So they were sitting on the table drying.

A fly started buzzing.

THWACK

Got him on the first try.

My theory:

If Clara (from the Nutcracker) can kill a Mouse King with a ballet shoe, I can kill a fly!

:~)

(At least I didn't use the pair above, they cost $100! :~)

Wacky Wednesday: My Cat Sully (Sulllivan)

This is our cat Sullivan, Sully for short, of the Gilbert and Sullivan fame. (Gillie is not in theses pics).

All of these odd actions are normal for him.

HE LOVES DRESS-UP!

Crazy cat, I know.

See what else our loving, CRAZY, cats do! A letter to my dear ANNOYING cat!

Speaking of annoying cats, he is on my lap, and sounds like a boat motor.

Hmmmm, must have gotten himself into trouble.....

:~D

A letter to my dear, ANNOYING CAT!

Dear Ansel,

Nothing like waking up at 5 something to hear a cat's LOUD purr in your ear!

It sounded like a motor boat!

Purrooom-Purrooom

Good grief Ansel, SOME people like sleeping without a boat in their bed.

Please refrain from bouncing the bed so hard you jolt me awake for an hour.

And PLEASE refrain from purring so loud!

I need ear plugs!

I love you my goofy, sometimes grouchy cat, but waking me up at 5 something for an hour is NOT an option.

I had every right to toss you out of the room.

And you deserved.

When you get this letter, please don't growl like a bear. (Which I am sure you will, because you like to growl at EVERYTHING!)

I love you, furry Ansel.

Love your Human, Moriah

P.S. DON"T WAKE ME UP TONIGHT!!!!

*No sermon Sunday, but I was able to help out a friend.

*No munchie Monday, but I was able to help out my sisters. (Unless I think of something.....)

I said.....

.....I would be available....hahaha....

but I haven't.

I have been juggling many things.... including projects that should have been done months ago.

I have kept to my cleaning schedule pretty well.

My goals have been shaky.....not at all.....

My name is Moriah, which means "The LORD is my Teacher".

And it is also a mountain in the bible.

God HAS and IS my teacher these past few weeks. Helping my climb the mountains I have faced. Juggling school, cleaning and family, plus time for my self.

Climbing those mountains are hard.

I have been faced with stress, and I responed in the usual way.

Crying.

Feeling I haven't done a good job.

Feeling like a silly whiny person.

The stress would bog me down.

I couldn't focus on anything.

And I still have that problem.

God has seen me through that.

And I don't know what I would have done with out him.

Off to juggle....but not very well.

Available

I have been "unavailable".

I was taking care of my Great Grandmother who had a heart attack.

:~)

Colossians 3:23-24
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

And thats what I did.

Have a wonderful evening!!! :~D

Wacky Wednesdays-Fortune cookie

God plans wacky things.

The 6 year old knocked over her water cup.

I was mad.

And while I cleaned up I came across a soggy fortune cookie fortune.

"No person is important enough to make you mad."

Wow!

God has wonderful timing! :~D

James 1:17
Every good and perfect gift is from above.

I'll have to remember that applies to soggy fortune cookie fortunes!

And spilled water......

Tutorial Tuesday

Today I made 2 things, I'll share both with you.

Project A)
A summer night gown....as fall comes....anyways, I added buttons that actually work and shortened the sleeves with pinking sheers on an old night gown.

I love it!

Project B)
No detergent for a load of towels, so unplanned, I made
LAUNDRY DETERGENT!

I love this recipe.

We usually use store detergent, but we ran out, and it is A LOT cheaper.

Ingredients:

1 shredded bar of Ivory soap (smells divine when you shred it!)
1 cup of baking soda (I used Arm and Hammer)
1 cup of borax (I used 20 Mule team borax)

Mix it thoroughly and use 1 table spoon per load!

Freshly cleaned towels!

Munchie Monday-Pasta Sauce

I made 3 batches for the freezer and this winter.

My hands smell delicious!

For each batch:

6 med-large tomatoes (from our garden!)
1 medium pepper (from our garden!)
Half an onion (The first one was sitting out, bu the second when I peeled brought tears to my eyes.)
1 garlic clove/piece
Plain tomato sauce (optional)
Olive oil
Large frying pan

1 Find some music to listen to, I listen to Casting Crowns
2 Find a cute apron, time to start! (or manly)
3 Put enough oil in the pan to lightly cover the bottom, do not put too much! Heat pan on Med.
4 Chop onion, pepper, and garlic, finely.

5 Saute the onion mixture.

6 While onions are sauteing chop tomatoes.

7  Put the tomatoes in when onions are slightly brown.

8 (Optional) put in the tomato sauce, about a 1/4 of a cup or so. Mix everything.
9 When it bubbles lightly turn stove off and let cool.

Serves about 6 servings.

To freeze: When mixture is cool, place in freezer bags and place in freezer.

Tastes delicious!

Makes the kitchen smell good too.

Past week's goals accomplished and the rest for this week

Write a schedule; what we will do everyday..... I had one but it was too complicated.....

Start school, organize books, look over Math book, and finish my week to week planning.

Clean the laundry room.

Clean the quilt that has sat in the laundry room for forever and a day.

Memorize Ephesians 3:14-21

Switch the toys, refresh them.

Make:
Finish my skirt
Remake my old night gown
Crochet premie hats
Make a pillow spacer so my 2nd to littlest sister doesn't keep bonking her head

Get on a dish washing schedule.......(nervous laugh) I promised my Mom while she was on bed-rest the dishes would stay cleaned...... but it didn't happen. Now it will! :~)

Prepare for a friend coming.

Clean our sun-room/porch.

Put up more bible verses.

And call a Sunday school teacher.

The rest is this weeks goals:

Switch the toys tonight.

I am planning on working on some craft projects this evening.

Dish washing is going pretty well, but no schedule.

Clean our sun-room/porch, maybe tomorrow.  I just have Math, Latin, and French. Should be able to clean that.

Put up more bible verses. Not sure where, other wise I would.

I am also going to add, calling a million people for a million different projects! :~D

What are your goals for this week?

Sermon Sunday

Kindness.

We went to the Syracuse Chief's final game of the year.

I am really not in to baseball.

But it was fun.

My sister waned to catch a baseball.

We were down by first base. But we never got one.

Then the man next to us said if she went down to where the Rochester Red Wings team was sitting they might give her a baseball.

And they did.

I was and am very happy and proud.
  • Because of their kindness.
  • Because my sister was blessed.
That was the highlight of her life.

Then.

Yes, there is more.

The kindness spread.

My Grandmother is at the hospital.

We went to visit her.

My Sister brought THE Ball.

And she cheered up my Grandmother's room mate.

From one simple act of kindness, an old baseball, my Grandmother's room mate was cheered.

What an amazing Sunday.

God is good.

2 Peter 1:5-7
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge;and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love.
