Advent Albums: Day 9

Here is a new Christmas album we got yesterday.

George Beverly Shea's Silent Night album was wonderful! I could listen to this one over and over if I could!! Alas there wasn't the time.

This was originally from Hill's Department store. I love the fact they say "Give the gift of music."

Plus a few songs I've never heard before were on here! A wonderful addition to our collection. <3

Coffee Shop #4

Catching up on the coffeeshops I've visited recently! Broadway Cafe is a childhood favorite! The original one is down at the college where my parents met.

Inside it is warm and inviting!

So much to choose from!

Sometimes we get iced tea here, but today i decided to go for my long time favorite drink!!!

Some of the teas they have.

Amen!

I got a "Cafe Broadway"! A scoop of ice cream in a cup of hot coffee. Mmmmm, my favorite! ❤

Advent Albums: Day 8

Ooo a new one!!

I can't wait to listen to Christmas disco!!!

Wait...this isn't disco music!?

Nope, just the traditional songs by classic singers. Enjoyable none the less!

Advent Albums: Day 7

Another Goodyear album! This one has greats like Mary Martin, Mitch Miller, Doris Day, and Robert Goulet.

There are also a couple groups on here like the Brothers Four which are lovely to listen to! I would definitely look for an album with them specifically.

A unique thing they did on this one was add "Holy, Holy, Holy!" and "Abide with Me" sung by Mahalia Jackson. They did for this reason:

"We include two especially outstanding selections from her wide repertory-Holy, Holy, Holy! and Abide with Me- even though they are not Christmas music, feeling that they will add to your enjoyment of the holy season."

Advent Albums: Day 6

Today I am listening to a Julie Andrews Christmas album! I love listening to her voice, and could for hours.

Originally this was sold from Fay's Drugstore!

A perfect way to end my night!

Advent Albums: Day 5

Day 5: A King Family Christmas

They had a very nice selection of songs in their Mobil endorsed record.

A couple of them though were a little never grating. Thank goodness those songs never became hits! O.o

All in all, I would give it a 9.5 out of 10! :~)

Advent Albums: Day 4

Today's album is one of Mom's new favorite Christmas records.

All instrumental organ and chimes music. It is a very gentle selection of organ music, well thought out, and relaxing to listen to.

The selections are all the usual Christmas carols you would expect to find. All in all, a great listen for the end of my day!

Advent Albums: Day 3

Some people may think me a nut, yet the holiday season can never be fully enjoyed without Nutcracker music! I danced with the Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker for 5 years in a row when I was younger. Some of my best dance memories are from that!

The first half sounds exactly like the Moscow's rendition although this is the Bolshoi Ballet's. The second half there are some variations with the way the music is played. Still an amazing treasure to listen to! Makes my feet want to get up and dance!❤❤❤

Advent Albums: Day 2

Today's album is "The Great Songs of Christmas: Album Two".

It has carols, and a few instrumental pieces such as Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Waltz of the Flowers, Toyland, and March of the Toys.

This album was created exclusively for Goodyear!

Advent Albums: Day 1

For this year's Christmas countdown, I decided to celebrate with a Christmas album a day! This one is a collection of "...Carols of Old England".

It includes songs like,
  • Patapan
  • Good King Wenceslas
  • I Saw Three Ships Come Sailing
  • Wassail Song
  • Boar's Head Carol
  • The Holly and The Ivy
And many others old and new to me, even though they are quite old! ☺

A Girl and her Tree - Snapshots

I found a tiny tree,

just perfect in size;

I showed to my shadow,

who quite agreed with me.

The ornaments from Grandma;

reminders of dancing years past;

I found a little corner for it all,

while the vinyl record went 'round.

A graceful dancer struck a pose;

And a reminder of the exciting future.

Frosty waved as he went by,

the little holy manager.

The Greatest Thanksgiving Lesson

The greatest Thanksgiving lesson I've ever learned was this:

Being thankful is a big thing this time of year. And don't misunderstand me, I'm thankful for many things! E.g. 8 days until we get a Christmas tree, 5 days until I see one of my best friends after a long time apart, 39 days till Christmas, 31 days till we've been engaged for a year, and of course, 198 days until...the wedding!! So as you can see, there so much I'm thankful for. But, being thankful inside doesn't show it.

Actions speak louder than words. Thanksgiving is giving thanks. Giving is an action. This next week leading up to Thanksgiving, I challenge you to show it outwardly to those around you. Tell someone you're thankful for them. Do something unexpected for someone else. Blessings abound, so bless others.
