George and Melanie have lived here in Jordan for 21 years. George is the Town Justice and has been in village politics for 17 or 18 years. They were on their way in the library as I was leaving. They love having a library, post office, grocery store and the bank in walking distance. They love having the small things, like safe sidewalks. They enjoy being in a small town with great neighbors with a sense of community. They both agree that the events like the Memorial day and the Fall Festival make our town unique.

People of Jordan: Patrick and Calvin
Patrick and his son Calvin have lived here for 12 years. They enjoy how quiet and peaceful it is. Patrick mentioned the small community is nice because you get to know everyone. Calvin told me that Mom works at Tops, so it's nice that it's close by. They are very intrigued with the historical aspect of our small town and the lovely history behind it. Calvin enjoys going to school here and they both agree that this is a lovely place to live.

People of Jordan: Sam and Mary Ann
(Sam)
Sam and his wife, Maryanne have lived here for 2 years. They love living here in Jordan. They moved "south" from the Tug Hill Plateau and they've noticed a significant change in the weather. They love their neighbors as they were nicely welcomed into the neighborhood. Sam enjoys walking on the canal trail and the fact they can walk around town. They enjoy walking to the Post Office, Tops, and the Library in the warmer months. Mary Ann loves the library just as much as Sam does. In fact they wrote a letter to the Editor of the Post Standard to show their appreciation. They love the friendly people and the friendly kitty at the library. Sam and Maryanne are very glad to call, Jordan, home.

People of Jordan: Erica
As I was leaving the Post Office, she was leaving Tops.
"It's a nice day for pictures!" she said to me.
"Sure is! In fact right now I'm doing a blog series called People of Jordan. Hey, can I take your picture?"
"Sure! Where would you like me to stand, here?"
Erica has lived here in Jordan for about 19 years. She doesn't enjoy being in the city rush, but being in the slow country. I quite agree!

People of Jordan: Monica and Millie
Monica and Millie: best friends
(Monica with her dog, Millie)
Millie is 9 years old and quite clever. She loves to go on walks throughout the village, with Monica. Quite often, Millie holds her own leash. Monica is trusts Millie, so Millie often waits outside while Monica runs quick errands. But when Monica stops in at Tops, Millie needs to be tied up. Otherwise she follows Monica into the store. Monica and Millie are attached at the hip. You don't see one without the other. What a special pair of best friends!
