Juxtaposed June - day 8

Today we have an herbal tea! "Christmas in Paris" is a herbal tea with cocoa shells, peppermint, lavender, chocolate, and vanilla. I like to send tea with my letters to people and this is one of my friends' favorites. 😊 A delightful cup after a long day at work!

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast. ~ Ernest Hemingway

A Reflection in Latin

After 12 years of school, I've graduated! In the past 12 years, I've learned many things in which I'll go into detail below in Latin.

Dancing: As of now, I've been dancing for 15 years! Dancing has become an important part of me as I use it for ministry. I'm thankful for a talent I can use to glorify God! On my email signature, I have the saying:

Semper Saltantem! Always Dancing!

Perseverance: I've learned to keep working at things, and to not give up. Countless times, I gave up on math or some other hard assignment. But when I picked it up again, if I kept at it, I was able to conquer it!

Vene vidi vici! I came; I saw; I conquered!

Thinking: I learned how to think outside the box. Whether with schoolwork, dancing, or teaching, I've learned that there isn't just one way to do things. So why not be creative?!

Creativum cogitandi magnam habet remunerationem! Creative thinking has a great reward!

Life: It will have many roads, many choices, and many opportunities. God's way, is obviously the best one to take, but quite often it isn't the most popular or a well-worn route. Nevertheless, it's the way to go!

Ambulate in via iter minus! Walk on the road less traveled!

And finally:

Non scholae sed vitae discimus! We learn not for school but for life!

Even though I'm done, I won't stop learning! There are still adventures, and things to learn in the days, weeks, months, and years ahead!

Carpe diem! Seize the day!

Join me in this adventure ahead!!!

Hats for the Holidays! Day 18

Completely random: the hat has nothing to do with what Im gonna say, but I needed a hat for today so voila! (Its pretty though! I havent worn it to work yet as they gave me it!) Anywho, "A Charlie Brown Christmas'' is such a sweet relaxing movie to watch! Ive got a migraine tonight, hence the "stock photo" so I curled up and watched that with Mom. Mmmm....

Patty: Try to catch snowflakes on your tongue. It's fun.
Linus: Mmm. Needs sugar.
Lucy: It's too early. I never eat December snowflakes. I always wait until January.
Linus: They sure look ripe to me.

Hats for the Holidays! Day 17

Yes, another brown hat! This was one my Mom had....and I think she may have worn it after her wedding when she changed out of her wedding dress to regular clothes. Tis a very nice hat! Ive always loved it <3 But then again, I love all my babies....er......hats ;~) Heehee!!

Even has a bow on the back! Makes me think of "Olivia and the Missing Toy" by Ian Falconer.

"Still it was Olivia's best toy. So she fixed it, adding a bow for extra beauty."

There is no place like home! ~ The Wizard of Oz

I have to tell you a secret that will see you through all the trials that life can offer. Have courage, and be kind. ~ Cinderella (2015)

~ Watching this again with T-bug seeing it for the first time! She was in awe of the carriage when the "Hairy Dogfather....er...Fairy Godmother" made it!

You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me. ~ C.S. Lewis

~ A cup of jasmine tea that was inspired by a friend!

So the small things came into their own: small acts of helping others, if one could; small ways of making one's own life better: acts of love, acts of tea, acts of laughter. Clever people might laugh at such simplicity, but, she asked herself, what was their own solution? ~ Alexander McCall Smith

~ Being able to help Mom out today!

When we love a person, we accept him or her exactly as is: the lovely with the unlovely, the strong along with the fearful, the true mixed in with the facade, and of course, the only way we can do it is by accepting ourselves that way. ~ Fred Rogers

~ Seeing everything my Mom does for my Great Grandma! <3

Beautiful Blessings - 7/16/15

Long post ahead just to warn ya ;~)

~ Seeing the view from the park where we had a picnic lunch! This snippet of song from Mary Poppins came to mind (Chim-Chim Cher-ee):

"Up where the smoke is
All billowed and curled
'Tween pavement and stars
Is the chimney-sweep world

When there's hardly no day
Nor hardly no night
There's things half in shadow
And half way in light
On the rooftops of London
Coo, what a sight"

------------------------------------

~ Listening to the chimes of a church when it is noon! The Hills are Alive came to mind:

The hills are alive,
With the sound of music
With songs they have sung

For a thousand years

The hills fill my heart,
With the sound of music
My heart wants to sing
Every song it hears

My heart wants to beat
Like the wings of the birds
That rise from the lake to the trees

My heart wants to sigh
Like a chime that flies
From a church on a breeze

To laugh like a brook
When it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night
Like a lark
Who is learning to pray

I go to the hills
When my heart is lonely
I know I will hear
What I've heard before
My heart will be blessed,
With the sound of music
And I'll sing once more.

~ Discovering where the sidewalk ends!

WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rest from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know,
The place where the sidewalk ends.

~ Imagining my sisters are Betsy, Tacy, and Tib!
"Holding the plate in one hand and a glass of milk in the other, each little girl would walk carefully out of her house and down the porch steps and out to the middle of the road. Then they would walk up the hill to that bench where Tacy had stood the first night she came. And they would eat supper together." - Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace

~ Spotting the beautiful heart on the dragonfly's wings! To continue with the literary theme:
The Dragon-fly

By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Today I saw the dragon-fly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rent the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze they grew;
Thro' crofts and pastures wet with dew
A living flash of light he flew.

Twas a beautiful day! :~D
