Being Thankful No Matter What

My head hurts.
My reading glasses are bugging me.
My head hurts for the umpteenth time.
The slightest noise from the kids sounds like a tuba in my face.
Its kinda gloomy out.
I am tired.
And snappy.

I post things Im thankful for every day.
Each blessing is a gift from God.
Sometimes its easy to say what Im thankful for when I have an amazing day.
But on days like this it is hard.

Especially when youre dealing with wet affectionate cats who decided to go out and play in the rain.
Or when the kids are playing together, and show you with great loud excitement, the worlds theyve created in their Polly Pocket Land.

And then you remember:

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
{1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV}

I remember the other day, when I was walking from the library, I thought of everything wrong at the moment.
Yet God reminded me of Philippains 4:11-13.
It was a timely reminder to be content, appreciative, grateful, and thankful for all God has done.

So back to the beginning of my post.

My head hurts, yet I have medicine to take to help and heal it.
My reading glasses are bugging me, yet I can adjust them a little and read properly with them.
My head hurts for the umpteenth time, yet I have a warm cup of coffee to drink to help soothe it.
The slightest noise from the kids sounds like a tuba in my face, yet they arent arguing and they are keeping themselves contentedly entertained with their Polly Pockets.
Its kinda gloomy out, yet its finally raining and we need the rain desperately.
I am tired, yet I can rest on the porch with my blanket and coffee.
And snappy, yet I can choose to be gentler with my remarks.

God has blessed me, and you, and all of us for that matter!
We need to choose to be thankful, no matter what!

Beautiful Blessings - 7/16/15

Long post ahead just to warn ya ;~)

~ Seeing the view from the park where we had a picnic lunch! This snippet of song from Mary Poppins came to mind (Chim-Chim Cher-ee):

"Up where the smoke is
All billowed and curled
'Tween pavement and stars
Is the chimney-sweep world

When there's hardly no day
Nor hardly no night
There's things half in shadow
And half way in light
On the rooftops of London
Coo, what a sight"

------------------------------------

~ Listening to the chimes of a church when it is noon! The Hills are Alive came to mind:

The hills are alive,
With the sound of music
With songs they have sung

For a thousand years

The hills fill my heart,
With the sound of music
My heart wants to sing
Every song it hears

My heart wants to beat
Like the wings of the birds
That rise from the lake to the trees

My heart wants to sigh
Like a chime that flies
From a church on a breeze

To laugh like a brook
When it trips and falls
Over stones on its way
To sing through the night
Like a lark
Who is learning to pray

I go to the hills
When my heart is lonely
I know I will hear
What I've heard before
My heart will be blessed,
With the sound of music
And I'll sing once more.

~ Discovering where the sidewalk ends!

WHERE THE SIDEWALK ENDS

There is a place where the sidewalk ends
And before the street begins,
And there the grass grows soft and white,
And there the sun burns crimson bright,
And there the moon-bird rest from his flight
To cool in the peppermint wind.

Let us leave this place where the smoke blows black
And the dark street winds and bends.
Past the pits where the asphalt flowers grow
We shall walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And watch where the chalk-white arrows go
To the place where the sidewalk ends.

Yes we'll walk with a walk that is measured and slow,
And we'll go where the chalk-white arrows go,
For the children, they mark, and the children, they know,
The place where the sidewalk ends.
------------------------------------

~ Imagining my sisters are Betsy, Tacy, and Tib!
"Holding the plate in one hand and a glass of milk in the other, each little girl would walk carefully out of her house and down the porch steps and out to the middle of the road. Then they would walk up the hill to that bench where Tacy had stood the first night she came. And they would eat supper together." - Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace
------------------------------------

~ Spotting the beautiful heart on the dragonfly's wings! To continue with the literary theme:
The Dragon-fly

By Alfred Lord Tennyson

Today I saw the dragon-fly
Come from the wells where he did lie.
An inner impulse rent the veil
Of his old husk: from head to tail
Came out clear plates of sapphire mail.
He dried his wings: like gauze they grew;
Thro' crofts and pastures wet with dew
A living flash of light he flew.

Twas a beautiful day! :~D

Beautiful Feet

Feet.

Those icky yucky things we often forget about.

To be honest.

My feet are hideous.

I always have some sort of blister, sore, toenails with issues or scars.

Honestly, I sometimes want to complain about them.

They just aren't cute.

A couple of my toes have a weird "bump".

Sometimes that's a hindrance.

But when ever I'm tempted to complain and feel sorry for myself, I remember this verse.

Romans 10:15
And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

When I remember this, I remember that beauty is only skin deep.

My feet are beautiful.

Not on the outside, but on the inside.

I use my feet to serve others.

I use them to work with kids.

I use them to dance for others to cheer up their day.

I use them to help my great grandma.

I use them to run errands.

I use them for everything.

God gave me these feet to spread His love.

And when I remember this.......I don't feel so bad about them.

Thank you God for my beautiful feet!

Throwback Tuesday: Christine Daae

I recently saw a stage production of the Phantom of the Opera and thoroughly enjoyed it! The music, the sets, the costumes, and as I've said, the music make it very enjoyable!

"In sleep, he sang to me. In dreams, he came. That voice which calls to me and speaks my name. And do I dream again? For now I find the Phantom of the Opera is there, inside my mind."

"Think of me, think of me waking, silent and resigned. Imagine me, trying too hard to put you from my mind. Recall those days, look back on all those times, think of the things we'll never do - there will never be a day, when I won't think of you."

Raindrops

Yesterday was a rainy, dreary day.

Actually that's only part of it.

Yesterday was a day of rain drops.
