Mismatch

Sometimes you need mismatch shoes just because...

...because it's an easy way to make others smile!

...because it's an easy way to make others laugh!

...because why not??

Venerable Vintage Hats: A Stroll down Broadway!

I am in love with the velvet of this hat. It's a bit quirky, it's brown (my favorite color) and it's velvet. Best of all possible worlds!! Can't you picture wearing this hat, strolling down Broadway in New York City in the 40's & 50's? :~D Maybe carrying a purse that matches? You can hear the chatter and laughter of people who are out and about. Heels are clicking on the sidewalk and men tipping their hat as acquaintances pass by.

Throwback Tuesday: Dressed for the Holiday Social Season

With Thanksgiving only a couple days away, the start of the holiday season is here!

This is a perfect outfit if you are going:
to a dinner,
the opera,
a performance of Nutcracker ballet,
a classy vintage movie theater to watch a Christmas classic such as
It's a Wonderful Life or The Christmas Carol,
being a hostess for Thanksgiving,
attending a party,
going to the symphony,
enjoying a delightful tea,
or just dressing up for fun this holiday season!

Timeless yet elegant for any social event this holiday season!

**disclaimer** I wouldn't recommend wearing this for one of those ugly holiday sweater contest parties. It just doesn't seem appropriate..... ;~)

30 Days of Love: Day 13

Matthew 25:40
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

Small acts of kindness don't go unrewarded. Whether it's buttoning up a dress, finding shoes, or something simple as a hug. These things do not go unnoticed.

My Sneakers

Remember back in December, when I posted this?

"My Shoes" - Once upon a time I had a pair of nice white sneakers. I loved those sneakers........and then I outgrew them. In need of sneakers I wore sandals as it was summer until I could get some. Well one day my Mom and I found a mysterious pair of sneakers on the porch. They were hideous and big. Well we asked a few people that had been to our house if they were their's but we couldn't find the owner. One day I knew I needed new sneakers, the white ones were very uncomfortable. So I put these on. They didn't have a inner sole, but that didn't bother me too much. Well these sneakers have been mine for 3-4 years now and they are still going strong. The original laces broke this past summer while we were camping so I bought a pair of black laces. They aren't pretty, they aren't fashionable, but they are my sneakers and very comfortable. And every winter, from November to March, these are the shoes to wear. :~)
The End.

This is the sequel to the above story! :~)

A couple weeks ago I was wearing my sneakers. I bent over to retie them, when I realized the shoe lace had snapped. I didn't have any spare shoelaces, so I just tied them lower down on the sneaker. Today we ran a quick errand to Payless to get some dance shoes. While we were there, I noticed a whole rack of shoe laces! I picked up a pair of black ones, and stared at them. The silver ones were so pretty, and the black ones were just plain boring! Mom came over and confirmed that I wanted to get silver ones. They feel so fancy with the silver sparkles!

Kitties and Shoes

Kitties and shoes are like magnets. They coexist in perfect or not-so-perfect harmony.

You can hide things in them. You can sniff them. You can bat them around.

You can chew on the shoelaces. You can use them for props and pillows. ;~)

Go invest in a pair of shoes for your cat today! ;~)

Or just let them flop on yours. ;~)

My Daddy

A Poem for my awesome, delightful, handsome Dad. :~)

My Daddy

My tiny fingers reach up to touch my Daddy's beard.
It's rough and scratchy against my face.
He squeezes me and sets me down,
"You'll always be Daddy's little girl."

It's Valentine's Day.
I find a card with a hamster on it.
Inside it says:
"To my Pucka Monster, I love you, Love Daddy."

One day Daddy makes me mad.
I get myself in loads of trouble.
"You are my little girl, and I don't want anything to happen to you."
I cry as I try smile.

A bad day happens, I'm in tears.
He sits down on my bed,
rubs my back, and pats my head.
His quiet love touches my heart.

As I walked into the kitchen, I tease him.
He stops what he's doing to tickle me.
I screech in delight and panic.
His arms enfold me and he hugs me.

I dress up fancy for something special.
He gives me a great bear hug.
"Daddy, you're smushing me."
"I know. That's because you're beautiful."

"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!"
He comes in the door from work.
Tired and ready for supper.
And happy to get a hug.

"Some day I'll be standing guard."
My Daddy's driving to the store.
"I'll have to beat the boys away.
From my precious girl."

Fancy dress, fancy shoes.
I'm growing up too fast for Daddy.
He slows his day.
He comes over and gives me a kiss on the forehead.

I may not be a baby.
I may not be a child.
I may be a young lady.
I'll always be Daddy's girl.

St. Nicholas Day!

In honor of St Nicholas Day, my sisters put out their shoes and got sweets this morning. Then they watched VeggieTale's "St Nicholas". The real St. Nicholas was excellent example of giving Jesus' way! :~)
