A cup of tea...

Throwback Tuesday: By the Christmas Tree!

Sometimes during the Christmas season, you need something special to wear to a fancy fete! A dress like this always does the trick. Especially if it has roses and sparkles! It's also a good dress for a bit of dancing around the Christmas tree or under a star-filled sky! This is one of my favorite vintage dresses as it twirls deliciously! Heehee!!

When my Mom was in college, she needed a dress, so my Aunt made her one! I love wearing this dress, as it's pretty, very comfy, and is made with love! It's also one of my favorite purple dresses....

Throwback Tuesday: A 50's Dress

This has always been one of my favorite 50's dresses. Unfortunately I outgrew it. (This is a picture from a couple years ago). The silver hat is one of my favorite pillbox hats. It fits just right. And I'm not sure if you can see, but I also have Eiffel Tower earrings on from my Dad's cousin who went to France!

(I made this picture around the time it was taken :~)

Slow during the Rush

Sometimes we're in such a rush, we forget about those around us.

Today I got up, ate breakfast, and went to work within an hour's time.

Rush, rush, rush.

When I got home, it was time for our tea party.

Time slowed.

We (my sisters and I) all dressed up in our "fancy" clothes, made some tea, put some snacks on fancy plates, and enjoyed ourselves immensely.

We laughed, and chatted about who knows what, yet being together drew us closer.

We slowed time, & created memories.

Was I planning on posting about this little tea party? No...actually it was far from my mind.

When it was over, they all went to play, and I started to clean up.

I picked up the dishes, and left on my fancy dress.

Silky softness rubbed against my bare feet.

The simplicity of the moment.

A simple act of love, a tea party, will be remembered for years.

Slow time; do something simple with those you love.

Treasure time slowed.

Throwback Tuesday: Coco Chanel

Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, also known as, Coco Chanel, is well known for one of the most popular perfumes, Chanel No. 5. She also started the love and popularity for the LBD (Little Black Dress). It was during the time of the Depression when women wanted affordable fashionable dresses. Coco Chanel created a black dress that was comfortable, stylish, and practical. Women fell in love with it, and they are still in style today. Chanel was a leading woman in fashion and was the only fashion designer in the

30 Days of Love: Day 13

Matthew 25:40
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"

Small acts of kindness don't go unrewarded. Whether it's buttoning up a dress, finding shoes, or something simple as a hug. These things do not go unnoticed.

My Daddy

A Poem for my awesome, delightful, handsome Dad. :~)

My Daddy

My tiny fingers reach up to touch my Daddy's beard.
It's rough and scratchy against my face.
He squeezes me and sets me down,
"You'll always be Daddy's little girl."

It's Valentine's Day.
I find a card with a hamster on it.
Inside it says:
"To my Pucka Monster, I love you, Love Daddy."

One day Daddy makes me mad.
I get myself in loads of trouble.
"You are my little girl, and I don't want anything to happen to you."
I cry as I try smile.

A bad day happens, I'm in tears.
He sits down on my bed,
rubs my back, and pats my head.
His quiet love touches my heart.

As I walked into the kitchen, I tease him.
He stops what he's doing to tickle me.
I screech in delight and panic.
His arms enfold me and he hugs me.

I dress up fancy for something special.
He gives me a great bear hug.
"Daddy, you're smushing me."
"I know. That's because you're beautiful."

"Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!"
He comes in the door from work.
Tired and ready for supper.
And happy to get a hug.

"Some day I'll be standing guard."
My Daddy's driving to the store.
"I'll have to beat the boys away.
From my precious girl."

Fancy dress, fancy shoes.
I'm growing up too fast for Daddy.
He slows his day.
He comes over and gives me a kiss on the forehead.

I may not be a baby.
I may not be a child.
I may be a young lady.
I'll always be Daddy's girl.

A Project

This past weekend was my birthday! I had a lovely time with friends and family.

I've had a project lurking in the back of my mind for the past few months and I decided to do it for my birthday!

Make a dress!

Now my skirt I cut out 2 Christmases ago still isn't finished, but I had an idea for a dress that would take about a half an hour to pin and sew.

You need a shirt and a skirt! (I got mine at the Salvation Army.)

Have a friend help pin it at the height you want, I was going for late 50's, early 60's, and sew!

I've worn this for 2 days now and it is so comfy to wear....

....I see more in my future....
