Being Thankful No Matter What

My head hurts.
My reading glasses are bugging me.
My head hurts for the umpteenth time.
The slightest noise from the kids sounds like a tuba in my face.
Its kinda gloomy out.
I am tired.
And snappy.

I post things Im thankful for every day.
Each blessing is a gift from God.
Sometimes its easy to say what Im thankful for when I have an amazing day.
But on days like this it is hard.

Especially when youre dealing with wet affectionate cats who decided to go out and play in the rain.
Or when the kids are playing together, and show you with great loud excitement, the worlds theyve created in their Polly Pocket Land.

And then you remember:

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
{1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV}

I remember the other day, when I was walking from the library, I thought of everything wrong at the moment.
Yet God reminded me of Philippains 4:11-13.
It was a timely reminder to be content, appreciative, grateful, and thankful for all God has done.

So back to the beginning of my post.

My head hurts, yet I have medicine to take to help and heal it.
My reading glasses are bugging me, yet I can adjust them a little and read properly with them.
My head hurts for the umpteenth time, yet I have a warm cup of coffee to drink to help soothe it.
The slightest noise from the kids sounds like a tuba in my face, yet they arent arguing and they are keeping themselves contentedly entertained with their Polly Pockets.
Its kinda gloomy out, yet its finally raining and we need the rain desperately.
I am tired, yet I can rest on the porch with my blanket and coffee.
And snappy, yet I can choose to be gentler with my remarks.

God has blessed me, and you, and all of us for that matter!
We need to choose to be thankful, no matter what!

A Mono-logue!

Moriah: I haven't had anything to blog about recently.
Mom: Why not about your mono since you did a post about having pneumonia?
Moriah: Well I could do that....
Mom: You could call it your "Mono-logue"!
Moriah bursts into laughter

That conversation took place the other day, and I decided it's about time I updated y'all on my life. Remember I told you I had pneumonia? Well, I wasn't getting any better. So we went to the doctor's, got an x-ray and did blood work. My x-ray showed nothing which meant I was over my pneumonia, but my blood work came back and I have mono. According to our calculations, I've been sick for about 2 months now.

Can I just say, it's not fun being sick for 2 months? No energy, constantly napping and feeling achy consists of my days. The hardest part about being sick definitely is the fact I can't go to dance. In fact, we had to find someone to take my place for St. Patrick's day! I will say though that it was a God-thing, when my ballet class was cancelled these past two weeks, as schedules conflicted with the class times. I definitely will be needing a lot of stretching when I return to dance as I'm stiff from head to toe!

Another hard thing, is singing wears me out as well! I sang 3 songs yesterday and wore myself out! And they weren't even long songs! Oh well....I have learned the art of singing in my head during this time, so that's a plus. Heehee!! It's definitely hard being sick like this, but as a few people have told me, God has a reason for this. He has a reason for this trial and while I may not know why at this time, eventually I may.

I must admit something to y'all. If you've never been sick for a long time like this, it's really rough. In fact I was getting rather discouraged and depressed. Oh golly, that was hard being so down. Praise God! He pulled me through that just like He is pulling me through this! Psalm 16:7-8 has been a blessing to me!

Psalm 16:7-8 (ESV)
I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

So to summarize: I'm sick with mono. I've been sick with mono. I'll be sick for a bit longer. I'm over pneumonia. And I'm pretty much worrying about one day at a time as I can't stretch my brain to think far beyond that. I'm tired and achy all time, and someday, hopefully soon, I'll get better. :~)

And that folks, is my mono-logue!

People of Jordan: Karen, Bill, Mary and Kelly

(Karen, Bill, Mary and Kelly)

These lovely people donate 3 hours of their week for the weekly Clothing Ministry that is held in the old parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Jordan N.Y on Thursdays. They started last February, on February 14th to be precise. They giveaway clothes, household items, personal hygiene items and food. Everything is local. If you donate something it goes to the community. They raise money for the ministry quite often, in fact they are getting ready to have a "Bunny Breakfast" on the 19th of April. All the proceeds will be donated to the Clothing Ministry. They have a wonderful ministry to the community and they are glad to be blessing the community.

Keeping up with my Resolutions and some Ramblings

I'll be updating the list of books I read here. I'll be posting the books every other week or so, on the blog itself. :~)

I was reading through the first 8 chapters of Genesis last night when this verse caught my eye:

Genesis 8:22
While the earth remains,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night,
shall not cease.

It is a very unique promise, amazing in fact!

In other news, it's snowing. Constantly. :~) It's quite beautiful.

I also had a lovely time celebrating 2014 with many friends.

On New Year's Eve I went skating and sledding with a bunch.

For New Year's Day, some friends came over to spend the afternoon. :~) We went for a cold hike and spotted a Red-shouldered Hawk!

Very beautiful!

Well I'm off to snuggle with my cute and furry kitty-cat!  :~)

Sing Sing Sing

We will sing, sing, sing

And make music with the heavens
We will sing, sing, sing
Grateful that You hear us
When we shout Your praise
Lift high the name of Jesus

What's not to love about You?
Heaven and earth adore You
Kings and kingdoms bow down
Son of God, You are the One
You are the One we're living for

You are the love that frees us
You are the light that leads us
Like a fire burning
Son of God, You are the One
You are the One we're living for

Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say
Lord, blessed be Your name

25 day's till X'mas

Prophecy foretelling Jesus' birth

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

This is the reason for the season!!!!!

45 days till X'mas!

I have a friend who collects nativities.

She had at least 20 sets.

I love nativities. They can be ornate or simple. Big or small. Tiny or tall. They can be life sized or pocket sized.

But each carries an important message.

What is the message?

It is intertwined with love, joy, promises kept, family, trust, and giving.

It is the message of Jesus' birth.

We may not know the exact day, but it is a day we set aside to remember the day Jesus' was born.

You would think that a someone like him would be born in a palace.

Oh no.

In a stable. A place with animals.

A bit more privacy than an inn, yes.

Mary and her family...husband, mother, father, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, all celebrating the birth of a child.

Because God wanted to teach us something great, he made it happen in a unlikely place.

That is what Christmas is about.

So today, read the Christmas story. Talk about it with your family and see what they would like to do to celebrate the birth of our Savior.

What I needed to hear

I am taking a fast from email this week.

Which is hard, because that is how I access my blog, through email.

I do this every now and then. It really refreshes my outlook through God's word and how I see and chat with my friends.

Email is my form of communication. No Facebook, no cell phone, no texting, no Twitter.

I wanted to write a blog post.

Why, I have no clue.

I pulled up my email to access my blog.

And I saw I had a new blog entry to read from "A Holy Experience", written by the author of "One Thousand Gifts".

And I read it.

And her post talked about something I am dealing with.

PERFECTIONISM

I have a pendulum.

It swings one way: I AM IN PERFECTIONIST MODE
It swings another:   I AM IN WHO CARES MODE

I try to do one or the other. And I am never happy where I am. And then it struck me.

I am fine.

I help out around the house.

I help my Mom.

And then I think.....

:~D ....the rain is falling. But the Son is shining!

I had no clue what to write.

But now I do.

I am going to write my goals.

  1. Continue my skim through the Bible, reading about God's holy women.
  2. Straighten the library like I promised Mom.
  3. Start my French book. And do some math.
  4. Think of dinner, because its been a long day for Mom.
  5. Work on repairing an antique blanket.
  6. Take costumes to the dance studio.
  7. Work on my clothes of Compassion, Kindness, Humility, Gentleness, Patience, and Love. (Colossians 3:12&14)
  8. Have a tea party with my sisters.

I have nothing to worry about.

If my bed isn't perfectly made, the cat who was sleeping on it won't care, that is okay.
If my sisters aren't perfect, that is okay.
If my outfit isn't perfect, that is okay.
If my hair isn't perfect, that is okay.

HAVE A MARVELOUS RAINY DAY! THE SON IS SHINING!
